Mars is Within Reach
While the world watched in breathless silence, SpaceX's Starship SN35 executed a perfect vertical landing in the Erebus Crater on Mars earlier today. This mission, dubbed Artemis-Mars I, marks the first time a heavy-lift vehicle has delivered industrial-scale cargo to another planet.
100 Tons of Infrastructure
The cargo manifest includes modular living quarters, atmospheric processors (MOXIE-2), and a fleet of autonomous solar-powered rovers. This equipment will begin the autonomous setup of 'Base Alpha' in preparation for the first crewed mission, currently scheduled for the 2028 launch window.
Precision Engineering
Landing a vehicle the size of a skyscraper in the thin Martian atmosphere required a series of complex maneuvers, including the now-famous 'belly flop' transition. The success of this landing proves that the Starship architecture is robust enough to eventually support a permanent human presence on the Red Planet.
